In the next five years, over one million military service members and their families will transition to civilian life. For many, finding employment will be the most challenging part of their transition. Onward to Opportunity in Partnership with the Veterans Career Transition Program (O2O-VCTP) – a public-private partnership between the Schultz Family Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, in collaboration with the United States Department of Defense – has the potential to fundamentally shift how the private sector engages and supports our service members and their families as they navigate the transition to civilian employment.
To empower highly qualified transitioning service members and military families with the specific skills, certifications and training required to start successful civilian careers in growing industries. O2O-VCTP connects hiring employers to veteran talent that is prepared to meet current, real time labor market needs.
In January 2017, we aligned our two leading career preparation and placement programs, Onward to Opportunity and the Veterans Career Transition Program. In coordination, O2O-VCTP enhances the learning and certification opportunities provided to those we serve while streamlining program operations for those participating in person or online.
