About Onward To Opportunity-VCTP
In the next five years, over one million military service members and their families will transition to civilian life. For many, finding employment will be the most challenging part of their transition. The Onward to Opportunity program – a public-private partnership between the Schultz Family Foundation and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University, in collaboration with the United States Department of Defense – has the potential to fundamentally shift how the private sector engages and supports our service members and their families as they navigate the transition to civilian employment.
To empower transitioning service members, members of the National Guard and Reserve, veterans, and military families to launch successful civilian careers in high demand industries by equipping them with the skills, credentials and necessary employment support needed to succeed in today’s knowledge economy, then connect America’s employers to this highly qualified and technically competent military talent pipeline ideally poised to meet the labor market needs of today and tomorrow.
