The Veteran Career Training Team
Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) is the first interdisciplinary national institute in higher education focused on the social, economic, education and policy issues impacting veterans and their families post-service. Through its focus on veteran-facing programming, research and policy, employment and employer support, and community engagement, the institute provides in-depth analysis of the challenges facing the veteran community, captures best practices and serves as a forum to facilitate new partnerships and strong relationships between the individuals and organizations committed to making a difference for veterans and military families.
The IVMF, the national leader in the design and delivery of educational and vocational training programs for servicemembers, veterans, and their families, was selected in 2015 to partner with the Schultz Family Foundation on the development and implementation of Onward to Opportunity.
“What a remarkable level of service [Syracuse University is] providing to the institution I am now privileged to lead. You have done so much to welcome our veterans and their families, and are now doing what we really need–couple thoughtful, intellectual work and to understand the opportunities represented by this amazing group of people we call our veterans–to better our country and the future of the institution I hold so dear.” – The Honorable Ashton Carter, U.S. Secretary of Defense, March 31, 2015
